H&M: A Fashion Empire

H&M, or Hennes & Mauritz AB, was founded in 1947 by Erling Persson in Västerås, Sweden. Initially a women's clothing store named "Hennes" (Swedish for "hers"), it later expanded its offerings after acquiring the hunting and fishing equipment retailer Mauritz Widforss in 1968. This acquisition led to the inclusion of menswear and the name change to Hennes & Mauritz, eventually shortened to H&M.

The company started out as a small shop selling women's clothing, but it quickly grew into a global fashion giant. Today, H&M has over 5,000 stores in 74 countries.

H&M is known for its trendy and affordable clothing. The company is able to offer low prices by sourcing its materials from low-cost countries and using a fast-fashion production model. This means that H&M can quickly bring new trends to market, which helps to keep its customers coming back for more.
